A Note of Gratitude from Liesel

Published: July 22, 2025

After three and a half wonderful years at AWE, I’m writing to share that I’ll be transitioning out of my role as Director of Programs. This decision comes after a great deal of reflection and is one that’s both exciting and bittersweet. It’s hard to put into words what this time has meant to me—being part of a mission-driven organization, surrounded by people who care deeply and think boldly, has been both humbling and energizing.

During my time, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an inspiring team, an engaged board, and an amazing community of members and partners. I’m especially proud of the work we’ve done to grow our program portfolio, create a dynamic and welcoming Symposium, and offer more interactive and meaningful ways for members to connect with each other and the mission.

AWE Staff This next chapter takes me closer to home—literally. My new role is based in my local community of Fort Collins, Colorado, where we’re raising our family and deepening our roots. The opportunity to work more in person, contribute locally, and reduce time on the road feels like the right step for me in this season of life.

While I’ll miss the daily connection with AWE's mission and members, I leave feeling proud of what we’ve built and incredibly confident in the talented team who will carry this work forward. Their passion, creativity, and dedication are unmatched, and I know AWE’s impact will only continue to grow.

To all of you who have shared ideas, contributed to projects, participated in events, or collaborated behind the scenes—thank you.  I’m deeply grateful for the chance to work on such meaningful issues, with people who consistently bring heart, integrity, and intelligence to every conversation and collaboration.

Program TeamThough I won’t be at the Symposium this year to connect with folks in person, I’ll be cheering from afar and will remain AWE’s biggest fan. Please keep in touch—I’d love to hear about what you’re working on and the adventures you're having in life.

With gratitude,
Liesel Hans
