AWE Joins Coalition in Support of Water Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability Act
Published: October 1, 2025
The Alliance for Water Efficiency is proud to join a coalition of leading water organizations in supporting H.R. 5566. This bipartisan legislation reauthorizes critical programs under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act to help communities prepare their drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems for the growing challenges of climate change, extreme weather events, and cybersecurity threats.
H.R. 5566 continues federal investment in innovative, community-driven solutions to strengthen water system resilience, especially for small, disadvantaged, and midsize communities. The legislation builds on momentum from past congressional action and EPA funding, which has already provided more than $25 million in support for resilience and sustainability projects nationwide. By reauthorizing and expanding these programs, Congress can help ensure uninterrupted water service and safeguard public health in the face of escalating risks.
AWE is pleased to stand alongside partners, including the American Water Works Association, Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, US Water Alliance, and others, in urging swift passage of this important legislation. Together, we believe H.R. 5566 will play a vital role in equipping utilities with the tools they need to secure water infrastructure for decades to come.
