The Water Conservation Rebate Tax Parity Act was recently introduced in both the U.S. House and the Senate with bipartisan sponsors.  This bill would eliminate federal taxation of water efficiency rebates, which is a disincentive to participation and an administrative burden for agencies that issue rebates. In April, AWE, alongside a coalition of national partner organizations, organized a sign-on letter to congressional leadership advocating for the adoption of this legislation. The sign-on letter garnered support from 71 organizations from across the country.

Sign-On Letter for Water Conservation Rebate Tax Parity Act 4-16-25

We continue to work alongside member organizations across the country to bring on additional cosponsors in the House and the Senate to help secure the passage of this needed legislation. If you're interested in getting engaged with this advocacy effort, please email Kelly Connolly Kern, AWE's Director of Public Affairs. With bipartisan support, we are hopeful this could be the year to pass the Tax Parity Act.
