Smart Drop Certified Overview

The Alliance for Water Efficiency and The Water Conservancy have collaborated to introduce the Smart Drop Certified program to product manufacturers in North America. This certification process assures consumers, businesses, and the water industry of the certified products’ water efficiency, sustainability, and overall quality. Smart Drop Certified complements the U.S. EPA’s WaterSense program by encouraging the adoption of water-efficient products and services. It provides a certification option for products that are not eligible for the WaterSense label but still play a valuable role in water conservation.

Certification Benefits for Manufacturers

Smart Drop Certified has helped Australian consumers select water-efficient products since 2004. With 87 certified products across various categories—such as watering, garden, turf, pools, plumbing, greywater, and bathrooms—Smart Drop Certified is now expanding to the North American market. Manufacturers endorsed through Smart Drop Certified can display the certification mark on product packaging, websites, point-of-sale displays, and across marketing channels, offering a visible guarantee of water efficiency to customers.

Certification Process

AWE and Smart Drop Certified will evaluate products in North America and Canada that fall outside the scope of the EPA WaterSense label. The Smart Drop Certified Expert Panel meets quarterly to review applications. Interested AWE members can email us to learn more.
