In 2019, AWE released State-Level Water Loss Laws in the United States, a supplement to the 2017 publication The Water Efficiency and Conservation State Scorecard: An Assessment of Laws. This supplement focuses specifically on the water loss laws analyzed in the 2017 State Scorecard, in order to highlight states who have implemented progressive water loss control measures and to identify states with room for improvement in water loss control. Using maps to display scores received for water loss control overall and for several high-priority topic areas, this supplement tells a compelling story about water loss success stories and opportunities.
Click on a state to see its water loss control score and more detailed information. States with darker blue colors received higher scores. States in white did not have water loss control laws in place at the time of publication of the 2017 State Scorecard and are therefore not clickable. Note: This map reflects water loss control laws enacted at the time of publication of the 2017 State Scorecard. Check state statutes for the most current information.
