In a press statement released last week, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it is not making any changes at this time in WaterSense® efficiency specifications for toilets, showerheads and faucets. However, EPA is now seeking public comment and information on consumer satisfaction with the WaterSense® program.

Last week President Trump announced at a Business Leader Roundtable Meeting that he has tasked the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate the efficacy of water efficiency standards for toilets, showerheads, and faucets in the United States. This announcement received considerable press coverage, and as a result, the Alliance for Water Efficiency has been fielding numerous information requests since Friday.

For some time, the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE) has been concerned about the issue of multiple showerheads in single shower stalls, and particularly how the subject is treated in green stretch codes that stress water efficiency. After some negotiation, on November 7th AWE and the Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) came to an agreement and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deal with this issue.
